150th Anniversary of Gettysburg 150 years ago America was - TopicsExpress

150th Anniversary of Gettysburg 150 years ago America was embroiled in the ultimate disunity of our Great Nation, The Civil War. Although still not entirely healed this wound was not fatal. The Nation weathered another tragic period in time and it did survive. Our Nation is a paradox of opposing thought and values. None the less we move forward. Some of our people are fortunate and they live in comfortable terms. Others have to drift from job to job just to get by. Some live off the combined social generosities of the former two. As a Society evolves I suppose the current social state of affairs in our country is to be expected. Two Camps with a bridge between them. Unfortunately the bridge is in about the same state of disrepair as America’s current infrastructure. Both have needed major loving care and modification for many years. The same fruits of strife and despair that led to our problems 150 years ago are taking shape again in an entirely different form. Extreme points of view rule the day. If strong, believable and sincere leadership does step up to the plate soon this extremist division between Americans may finally pull us over the proverbial line in the sand? Although I believe that when, as a people, we are assaulted from an outside force we will always amass under a common alliance. Unfortunately all of the great thinkers on American History have always expounded on the belief that destruction would come from within the Castle Walls? If this thought is to be believed? Maybe this extremist split within our country will be the vehicle to be used for the crossed line scenario? The last time I remember a leader that seemed to evoke a sense of National Unity was Jack Kennedy. Although too young to be political at the time I do remember a common national grieving that started at his death and still continues. I long for the American Days of Camelot! God please send us a Leader we can all get behind before a new Gettysburg is upon us!
