15th July - 1412 Information was received from a crew member that somebody had posted on face book that something had been seen in the water at the Tilbury grain Terminal as we have been searching the river for a missing person for the past 24 hours this information was passed immediately to the coastguard and the decision was taken to launch the Lifeboat for further investigation. The Harbour launch Kew was in attendance in this area and assistance was offered and so the Lifeboat and Harbour launch Kew conducted a search from downstream of Tilbury grain all surrounding area and upstream to the Black shelf buoy both vessels turned around and then continued back downstream through the trots at Thurrock yacht club back down to Tilbury grain terminal and into the shallows on the shore side of the jetty where we spotted a small buoy which could have been mistaken for something else. Having made a thorough search of the area and nothing found also due to lack of any further information it was decided to stand the Lifeboat and Harbour launch down.
