16 PDP Stalwarts Join APC In Borno 16 wards executive council members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from 16 wards out of the 19 wards of Gubio local government area of Borno State have joined the All Progressives Congress (APC). The 16 wards executive council members include the PDP local government chairman of Gubio local government, the ward chairmen and secretaries, ward elders and leaders of the 16 wards, youth and women leaders of the 16 wards in the area. Giving reasons for dumping PDP, they cited the people oriented projects executed by the state government and efforts in curtailing the menace of Boko Haram insurgency in the state by Governor Kashim Shettima. Earlier, three wards executive council members out of the 19 wards executive council members in the area led by a former House of Representatives member, Hon Fanta Gubio had about two weeks ago announced their defection from the PDP to the APC, citing lack of vision and good leadership in the PDP as reasons for their movement. However, the remaining 16 ward executive council members with other party leaders in the area stormed the Maiduguri Government House yesterday to declare their decision to dump PDP and pledge their loyalty to the ruling APC government in the state. They were led by former PDP and ANPP Borno North senatorial candidate in the 2007 and 2011 elections respectively, Hajiya Fati Kakinna, former PDP House of Assembly candidate in 2003 and 2007 elections, Alhaji Mustapha Fannami, Hon. Gubo Moruma, the Borno State House of Assembly member representing Gubio local government council constituency and Alhaji Zanna Modu Gunio, the Gubio local government council, caretaker committee, chairman. The former PDP members said that they resolved to move into APC after careful assessment of the performance of the government in the areas of health, education and agriculture sectors of the state, pointing out that the governor and his party “have good intention for the people of the state.” They assured that they would work assiduously to move the APC in the state and country at large forward.
