16-year-old Cooper Van Huizen is being held in the same prison - TopicsExpress

16-year-old Cooper Van Huizen is being held in the same prison that holds death row inmates and other high-profile offenders. He got one-to-15 years there for robbery. He pleaded guilty on the advice of his attorney, thinking he would get 180 days and probation. Now he could be there for more than a decade. But should he be in prison? Was his crime — being present during a robbery at gunpoint, and bringing the guns — so egregious that he should be housed with the worst of the worst, especially considering his accomplices got 180 and 210 days in jail, respectively? The judge thinks so. But his parents and supporters disagree. Reporter Jessica Miller takes you through the case. sltrib/sltrib/news/57972054-78/huizen-van-prison-teen.html.csp Whats your opinion? What is an appropriate sentence for this boy?
