164 teams to kick off Ipatas Cup under new format pngloop Quintina Naime Dec 2, 2014 A total of 164 teams throughout the country are expected to participate in the 2015 Coca-Cola Ipatas Cup (CCIC) challenge set to kick off in Jan. The competition will be played in eight different legs of challenges. The trial matches for each leg will kick off towards the end of this month. The eight legs of challenges will be played in the Southern, New Guinea Islands, Western Highlands, Jiwaka, Hela, Southern Highlands, Northern and Chimbu. Over 164 teams have shown interest but only few have paid in their registration fee of K1000 to participate. CCIC chief executive officer Timothy Lepa said the official calendar has already been approved by the Patron and Enga Governor Peter Ipatas and the Board and will be released soon. Lepa challenged all provincial coordinators to prepare well to cater for the new format this year. The new format will see teams play for four weeks in their respective provinces to select their winner to participate in the knock outs. Under the old format, teams play during the weekends only. Lepa warned teams to look after themselves during the four weeks saying if they are not capable to do so, they must withdraw now to avoid inconveniences during the competition.
