18 months ago, almost to the day I opened the doors to the civic hall in Stalybridge and ran my first ever Handmade Market. I had no idea what to expect, whether anyone would come, whether anyone would buy anything....there were many sleepless nights beforehand and lots of hard work pounding the streets of Tameside promoting the event. It was an AMAZING first market with around 2000 visitors and the civic hall, which sadly remained closed most of the year, was a bustling market once again ...much to the satisfaction of many local people. That day will remain in my memory for a very long time.... The feedback I received was fantastic from both stallholders itching to book for the next market and customers who were just thrilled with their handmade purchases! And MWL Events was born.... A prime example of a social enterprise turned business. I have an amazing team of volunteers around me, some truly talented traders on my database and Im constantly overwhelmed with the positive feedback I get on a daily basis! What we do isnt for everyone but we thank each and every one of you for sticking by us, for supporting us and for helping us put Stalybridge back on the map.
