19 Mar 2014 HOW TO RELATE WITH YOUR PASTOR - PSALM 68:6; JEREMIAH 3:15 Share Bible in a year: Numbers 28:16-29:40, Luke 3:23-38, Psalm 62:1-12, Proverbs 11:18-19 Every blessing of God falls positionally. There is a position and posture that you must assume for the blessing that God intends for you to reach you. According to Psalm 68:6 God has placed every one of His children in a sheepfold under a pastor. However, there is a way you are supposed to relate with your pastor to be a full partaker of everything God has planted in that relationship with your pastor. The following are some of the things that should guide you in relating with your pastor. 1. Ascertain God called him (Rom. 8:14) 2. Ascertain that the church has a candle in heaven (Rev. 1:12-13, 20), and that it is not a man’s idea to gather people to himself. 3. Be sure that God brought you to him (John 10:16). 4. Accept him as God’s gift to you. Take him as your father, his wife as your mother and not as a competitor or a rival (Ephesians 4:8-13). 5. Accept his vision and people. 6. Be born into the house and be a son to him. 7. Operate with permanence mindset; don’t serve with a temporary mindset. 8. Don’t compare him with another pastor; appreciate what you have. 9. Treasure his words, teachings, counsels, assignments and instructions. 10. Honour him; double honour, enrich him. As you pay your tithe and give to the church work; also give your prophet’s offerings. Let your pastor eat of your labour. Remember his birthday and other social occasions. You are his family; he left his biological family to minister to you. 11. Cover his nakedness. Don’t expose the privileged information you have about him, rather, shield him. This is not the same thing as overlooking any untoward and unbecoming act on his part. 12. Attach the same honour to his wife, children and family except the wife or children are cantankerous and discrediting his ministry. 13. When you notice any lapse in the church or about his private life, arise and do something about it. 14. Explore other areas where your life can be a blessing to both the pastor and the church through your placement in the family, office, societal issues, governmental affairs and decisions policy changes, etc. that may impact the church. By taking this position to your pastor and by taking him as God’s man to you, you will be safe in life and not otherwise. The anointing and the grace of God upon him will begin to function for you and sooner or later it will begin to function upon you. Prayer: Father, help me to find my God-ordained pastor and take the correct posture to him in Jesus’ name, amen.
