1939--Funeral Services for Mandan Jeweler and Optometrist--(Mandan News) Funeral services were conducted at Mandan’s First Presbyterian Church this past week for C. G. Conyne, 82, Mandan jeweler and optometrist, who retired from active business only three months ago. Conyne was born in Prompton, Pa., and traveled west to Dakota Territory in 1886, coming to Mandan eight years later to open the town’s first jewelry store and optometric office. The Conyne Jewelry store was sold to Arthur G. Hendrickson on April 1. Survivors include two children: Mrs. Charles Ellis, Sr., Mandan; and Scott G. Conyne, St. Paul, Minn., and three grandchildren.
