1970...Elvis career considered as Over... The British takeover...The Beatles, Tom Jones...and THIS is the moment where Elvis fate was to unveil...and he knew it. They all knew - Elvis entering that stage could mean the end, a has-been...or can he reclaim his crown as the king of rock n roll...? Elvis is nervous...what a gamble...look at him...look at his courage. He didnt become this immortal legend by being chicken!!! It takes courage to go on that stage, face those who are seconds away to love you, or bury you alive... He walked out of that stage as the King. The Lions went home hungry that night... 5 yrs later, I met Elvis... Bypassing guards and dogs, entering Elvis private suites at the Vegas Hilton, a handsome hunk walked by me...swoosh. Hey, Jerry, is he (Elvis) up yet? Man...am tellinya...he has a death wish in his eyes...a death wish, said the handsome hunk aka Jerry Schilling, Elvis press agent. (More in my memoir, the Runaway Doll. Im hoping to make it a movie, all-star cast). Oh, by the way: that day i met Elvis in Vegas was Aug. 17,1975. Elvis died on Aug. 16, 1977...almost to date when i met him...very odd co-inkidink.
