1977-78. The year of our discontent. The entire school year was defined by the elephant in the room. Most everyone in town was aware of the discord between teachers and school board. In retrospect, it didn’t have to happen. But I knew that the impact was felt by all students, some more so than others. Each day the newspapers chronicled the events as they happened. In April, the teachers went on strike. Students were out of school for four extra days of vacation at Eastertime. Here are the names of my students attending classes at Menominee Middle School that year.
