1985 LEE HANEY - A REAL SUPER “MAN” Here is a 1982 shot with Lee on the plane the year he won 3 National titles. And a few shots when Guest Posing at the 1985 USA Championships. Between 1984 and 1991 he took the Mr. Olympia for 8 consecutive years. In 2011, 29 years later while on a flight to Ohio, I was surprised when Lee approached my seat from behind on order to chat. I’d been talking with 2 novices across the aisle competing in an event at the Arnold so, after the flight, I asked Lee if he’d pose for a picture with them. As always, he was happy to comply. We were to be inducted into the National Fitness Hall of Fame along with 6 other sports celebrities including 8 time Miss Olympia, Lenda Murray. I forgot to bring my plaque for the group photo so, of course, Lee shared his with me. The most enjoyable reunion I ever attended was the Photo Exhibit at the Sports Museum in Austin TX a couple months later. Here Lee presented me with his book BEYOND THE PUMP and autographed to “Our First Lady of Bodybuilding”.
