19th Day of Nov. 2014. Awakening the saints daily devotion with OMOOBA(ERUJEJE c)2014. ACTS OF THE APOSTLES. Acts17vs18:while Paul was yet in Athens, philosophers of Epicureans and Stoicks came in contact with him,and some said, what will this babbler say... In verse21,u would understand that the citizens of Athens were Professors given to research,and always postulating new theories. Eventually,Paul came across two sects of philosophers namely: the Stoicks and the Epicureans. The philosophers were exclusive atheists who never believed in God. Imagine coming in contact with Bill gates or Wole Soyinka who never believe that God exist,what would you do? I presume posing to take few photo shots with them to use as dp or asking secrets of their wealth and success is what some of us would have in mind. But Paul engaged them publicly in the market place and without wasting time, he started talking about the Jesus that died and rose again(vs19-22). If it were to be todays believers who are business men and who claim to be born again,they would be like: Let us use wisdom o!I can not be in a public function with Bill Gates,Dangote and big shot professors and be talking about Jesus. Business life is different from spiritual life....I cant come and loose contracts! But such was not the case of Paul. Infact,Paul went to Areopagus,the most learned of all the atheists(v19),and stood at the amphitheatre(v22),and he started teaching about gospel of the kingdom. Can we dare do such things,without minding our prestigious reputation? Stay tunned! Good morning
