19th December Matthew 4 v 1: Then Jesus was led into the desert to be tempted by the devil. Yes, there are so many ways we can be tempted to do our best, have the best at Christmas and give the best gifts for those we love. It all comes at a cost though and many go into debt to pay for it. Many who cannot afford it. I see a sense of this changing these days, where people are thinking about the cost and for a lot, not going over the top, where it leads to heartache because of the pressures to buy, buy, buy! After all it is the Gift of Jesus who came (we celebrate at this time) for all of us. His cost was to be born to die (then to be raised up from the dead), to take the sins of the World that whoever believed and repented would be saved and counted as a child of God. What a cost for all mankind?! I pray many more will see the truth behind the Christmas celebrations this year. There are two organisations CAP (Christians against Poverty) and CAB (Citizens Advice) who have and are there to help people with all sorts of problems but also to help guide people on how to get debt free (Jesus paid the debt I owed, I am so thankful for that!) from money problems. The worry they go through, the pain and suffering, all because of temptation, the need to have. I have seen people who have gone through this and the strain and stress is felt by all the family, but the release they feel when they have managed to get debt free is joy, peace, relief. I want to thank all people who go out of their way to help guide others to learn not to be fooled and tempted to have things that lead them to debt. CAP & CAB do a wonderful job with limited resources (financial) to help people, never judging, just guiding them. Please Lord, bless and encourage the people who work to help others out of the mess they are in.
