1kings 12:1-24: 1corinthians 1: 10 Satan does not like unity when people are happy. Satan can sow seed of discord in their midst and division will result. Psalm 133 says how good and how pleasant it is when brethren dwell in unity. Paul in 2 corinthians 2:11 says we should be aware of the devices, strategy and schemes of the devil. One of such schemes is the seed of division. Paul says in 1 COR 1:10 I urge, brothers in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree in what you say, and that there be no division among you, but that you be united in same mind and in the same purpose. In Pauls opinion, it is immaturity that bring division. 1 COR. 3:3. The devil loves lack of fellowship in act. 2:1 on the day of Pentecost, they were all united in one accord. In act. 4:32, the believers were in one heart and in one soul. Jesus told his disciples in Matt 18:19 that if two people agree on a particular thing on earth, it is agree in heaven. If they ask anything, it shall be granted to them, for where two or three are gathered there God is. It is a blow to see brothers and sisters fighting or quarreling. In Timothy 2:23-26, Paul encourage believers avoid quarrels. Most times, the things that cause division may be too small to cause division. At other times failure to listen to the other person can cause division. In 1kings 12:1-24, the kingdom of Judah divided from the kingdom of Israel because Rehoboam showed harshness toward the hurting. The people were hurting from the imposed labour and heavy tasks. This they have experienced for forty years in the reign of Solomon. If only Rehoboam have some compassion, he would have kept the nation together. Jesus declared in Matthew5:7 Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy. May God bring unity to our families, countries, communities and to our lives in Jesus Name. Pray against every source of division. Pray for the grace of humility to bring unity at all cost.
