1st Muharram 1436 A.H. The day in which the Prophet (صلى الله عليه و سلم) arrived in the city of Yathrib which then subsequently became known as Madinat un-Nabi or Madinah alongside the first Caliph and best of the Prophet, Abu Bakr Siddique in 622 CE Upon their arrival they were greeted with open arms by the people of Madinah with the Ansar reciting the following poem: طلع البدر علينا ṭalaa l-badru alaynā Oh the white moon rose over us من ثنيات الوداع min thaniyyāti l-wadā From the valley of al-Wadā وجب الشكر علينا wajaba l-shukru alaynā And we owe it to show gratefulness ما دعى لله داع mā daā li-l-lāhi dā Where the call is to Allah. أيها المبعوث فينا ayyuha l-mabūthu fīnā Oh you who were raised among us جئت بالأمر المطاع jita bi-l-amri l-muṭā Coming with a word to be obeyed جئت شرفت المدينة jita sharrafta l-madīnah You have brought to this city nobleness مرحبا يا خير داع marḥaban yā khayra dā Welcome best caller to Gods way --------------------------------------- A few significant events that happened in Muharram: 02 - Imam Hussain (as) established camp at Karbala (61 AH) 07 - Water access was blocked under Yazids orders 10 - Martyrdom of Imam Hussain (as) at Karbala (61 AH) 25 - Martyrdom of Zayn al-Abideen (95 AH) -------------------------------------- May this year be filled with blessings and happiness for us all.
