2.05 inch long Langtry dart point found in Coryell County, Texas and made from peanut butter jasper with a crystal eye in the middle. Specific provenance details for this artifact are known. Langtry points have a triangular outline giving them a Christmas tree effect. They are characterized by a tapered stem that terminates in a straight or concave base. Shoulders are strong, angular, or strongly barbed. Barbs point outward. Very common in the lower Pecos and occurs infrequently in south central Texas, Big Bend, and Mexico. Hester and Turner called it Middle Archaic with dates from 2,500 BC to 1,000 BC while Perino called it Late Archaic of the Round Rock Phase with dates from 2,250 BC to 650 BC. This artifact was originally in the Ray Pohler Collection and is now in the John Branney Collection.
