2 1/2 months of excruciating pain due to a pinched sciatic nerve - TopicsExpress

2 1/2 months of excruciating pain due to a pinched sciatic nerve from a herniated disk (L4/5) that went right through the Vicodin. A steroid dose pack, 2 steroid epidural injections and aggressive physical therapy and it was not getting any better. That led to a micro discectomy which gave immediate relief and I was discharged after 3 hours in recovery to walk 20 blocks in NYC that afternoon. It was followed by 6 weeks of no riding, sitting limited to 30 minutes max and lifting no more than 10 lbs. The restrictions on triking came off today at noon and I was allowed to start off slowly. So, at 1PM, we started out on the Farmington Canal Rail Trail in Hamden, CT and did 5 miles so as to not push things. It was simply fantastic to be able to ride again and was a beautiful, low 60s fall day to make it that much better.
