2 Kidnap suspects arrested benin city - Two members of a three-man gang of suspected kidnappers who abducted a man and his lover in Benin City have been arrested after they were trapped in an autocrash at Lokoja, Kogi State. They were taking their victim’s car to Kano to sell when they had an accident with the vehicle. Their plan to sell the car came after they had collected ransome from the owner. One of the suspects, Peter Thomas (32) had his laps fractured in the crash. He was rescued by a team of unsuspecting Federal Road Safety commission officials in Lokoja. The Commissioner of Police, Edo State, Mr. Foluso Adebanjo covert investigation led to the arrest of Peter Thomas and his partner in crime, Efosa Okungbowa (35) while the stolen car, marked DZ 382 BEN was recovered. The suspected kidnapper, Peter Thomas said he is a Public Administration student of the Institute of Technology and Management (ITM), Usen, Ovia South-West Local Government Area, Edo State. He said he was arrested in a bone setter’s clinic in Benin City. According to him, his friend asked him to accompany him to Kano to dispose the vehicle but however denied complicity of the kidnapping. The second suspect, Okungbowa admitted to have in connived with others now at large to steal the car where it was parked at Stadium Road, Benin City. He also denied complicity in the kidnapping. Contacted on telephone, the Public Relations Officer of ITM, Prince Richard Elawure said the name Peter Thomas does not exist in any department of the institution, either as a student or staff, saying it was only a case of impersonation.
