2, November 1773 Faneuil Hall Boston, Massachusetts The North-End Caucus met and deliberated on the subject of not buying Tea and it was decided that the next expected shipment of Tea will not be allowed to be landed. On the 3rd, a large flag is hoisted from the Liberty Tree, (thought to be a red field with white strips) as the church bells will ring from 11 till noon and the town-crier informed the populous to meet at the tree. Over 500 attended and Samuel Adams with Hancock, Phillips, Molineux and Warren; informs the people that the time solidary was here and the people needed to let the Elders of the City know that the Tea must be refused. From that point the People delegation moved to the warehouse of Mr. Clarke requested a parley. Clarke refused and “I shall have nothing to do with it” was his reply. On the 4th, the messages went to the out-lying communities to be in Boston at Faneuil Hall on the 5th at 10AM for a formal meeting. At the assembly on the 5th, Samuel Adams reads the “Resolution of the Town of Boston” to the people with the sentiment “anyone who aids or abets the “unloading receiving or vending the tea is an enemy to America.” On the 6th, another meeting at Faneuil Hall is held to hear the answers from the local merchants, which was in the majority very positive. The entire episode was 5 days of meetings and speeches. “Writings of Samuel Adams” Harry Cushing Vol. 3 (page 67-68) “Life and times of Joseph Warren” by Richard Frothingham Chapter 9 (page 240 – 245) bostonteapartyship/faneuil-hall#sthash.PegocaIX.dpuf muldrake/samadamsfaith.html
