2 October Update. Bryant went to his new home today with Seminolefan Mike and Mike says that he is fitting right in with the family and their pets! I am so happy for all of them and should be able to get some photos to post here soon. Be sure to watch the critter cam at Lucys in the am before noon and after 3 as that is when the dogs are allowed out to play in the play yard. It is way too hot between noon and 3pm. I hope Mike will post some photos here for us when he gets time and Bryant gets settled. I felt really bad for Chance when Bryant left. Chance was crying on the inside of the house and Bryant was NOT in the mood to leave his buddy behind, and fought leaving with all his might. But it sounds like things are going well at Mikes, and Chance has discovered that Walter is also a good guy to pal around with so the world is back in alignment! I turned in the little puppy today and it broke my heart to leave him there at ACS. :( But 4 hours later, I was picking him up and as soon as I got him in the car, he snuggled close and went right to sleep! :) I had alerted the supervisor at SAPA at the 151 location, and she was aware of the pup and the possibility of pulling this pup for me. When I contacted Crystal to ask about the pups status before I went out to pick him up, I was told that ACS didnt spend much time with the pup, but rather just sent him to the EBI (Euthanasia by Injection) room to be killed. I guess they thought he was a lost cause and didnt want to do anything to help him or to spend any money to help him recover. But that is OK cause now he is with me and SAPA and we are going to spoil him and get him all better and find him a perfect forever home! I have named him Precious because he is! He will be with me for a while. He has been diagnosed with sarcoptic mange, the contagious kind, and that takes a while to get that under control. No matter though, right now, I have 5 other small dogs and pups his size with the same thing. Unfortunately, he will have to be alone for now, due to the broken femur. We will be starting a fund to help raise money for his eventual surgery to repair or remove the leg. First we have to deal with the mange, the worms and tapeworms, malnutrition, and his skin infection so we can wait a little to get him built up nutritionally so that he would be strong enough to have the surgery! I LOVE it when a plan comes together!! I know it was the prayers that made the difference and I THANK YOU ALL!!
