2 Timothy 2:15 Genuine or Counterfeit? Is STUDY Missing From Your Bible? Does STUDY Belong In Your Bible? What is the Command Here? Are We to STUDY Gods Word? or Are We To Present Our WORKS to God to be approved? Doctrinal Issue or Not? 2Ti 2:15 (KJB) STUDY to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The word STUDY makes perfect sense when read in context, even when this sentence is shortened to its base structure. 2Ti 2:15 (KJB) STUDY to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing THE WORD of truth. STUDY to shew thyself approved unto God, ~~~rightly dividing THE WORD of truth. STUDY to shew thyself approved, ~~~~~ rightly dividing THE WORD of truth. STUDY, ~~~~~ rightly dividing THE WORD if truth. STUDY THE WORD of truth. STUDY THE WORD. Verb~Article~Noun! Still makes sense. Doesnt it? Of course we would never remove these words. This is done to grammatically display the base words in this sentence. One could argue that DIVIDING is the correct Action Verb instead of STUDY. When this is done it reads as DIVIDING THE WORD. ??? If this is the correct base reading, then we are left hanging, waiting for the rest of the sentence. Something is missing. More info needed. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Try any of the other words from the modern versions renderings below, STRIVE DILIGENTLY the word GIVE DILIGENCE the word TRY HARD the word DO YOUR BEST the word WORK HARD the word BE DILIGENT the word DO ANY OF THESE MAKE SENSE? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Modern Version Changes, Deletions, Deviations, and Omissions 1890 Darby, John Nelson Version Strive diligently to present thyself approved to God, 1901 American Standard Version Give diligence to present thyself approved unto God, 1924 Montgomery NT Strive earnestly to present yourself unto God, tested and proved worthy by trial, 1961 New English Bible, The Try hard to show yourself worthy of Gods approval 1964 Basic Bible, The Let it be your care to get the approval of God, 1966 CATHOLIC EDITION RSV Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, 1970 JEHOVAHS WITNESS NWT Do your utmost to present yourself approved to God, 1973 Revised Standard Version Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, 1977 New American Standard Be diligent to present yourself approved to God 1982 New King James Version Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, 1984 JEHOVAHS WITNESS NWT Do your utmost to present yourself approved to God, 1984 New International Version Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved 1984 NIV Anglicised Version Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, 1985 New Jerusalem Bible Catholic Online Henre Wansbrough Make every effort to present yourself before God 1989 New Revised Standard Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved by him, 1989 Revised English Bible Try hard to show yourself worthy of Gods approval, 1992 Good News Translation TEV Do your best to win full approval in Gods sight, 1995 Contemporary English Version Do your best to win God’s approval 1995 Gods Word Todays Trans Do your best to present yourself to God as a tried-and-true worker 1995 New American Standard Be diligent to present yourself approved to God 1995 NRSV Anglicized Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved by him, 1998 Complete Jewish Bible Do all you can to present yourself to God as someone worthy of his approval, 1998 NIRV Readers Do your best to please God 2001 English Standard Version Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, 2002 Message, The Concentrate on doing your best for God, 2004 New Living Trans WORK HARD so you can present yourself to God and receive his approval. 2005 Mace NT endeavour to approve yourself to God, as an artist that is not afraid of reproach, 2005 New Century Ver Make every effort to give yourself to God as the kind of person he will approve. 2005 Phillips NT For yourself, concentrate on winning Gods approval, 2005 Todays NIV Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, 2005 Wesley NT Be diligent to present thyself unto God approved 2007 English Standard Ver.
