2 Word Check-In...QUEENS MESSAGE was not always looked upon with favor at the La Marsh household. My brother Peter, twelve years my senior never made the move with us to Airdrietown. No, he started University when we moved and he elected to room & board in Calgary. He would make the pilgrimage to Airdrietown once a year at Christmas and sleep over Christmas Eve. As a young lad my internal Christmas Clock had me up anywhere from 2:00am to 2:15am regardless in anxious anticipation. Of course Marge the Mom & that Santa guy caught on very quickly and a book requiring at least four hours of reading would be uppermost in youngsters stocking! Tarzan, The Sand Dune Pony, Hardy Boys and other timeless classics were certainly excellent time passers! The anticipation built with every hour and when Dad would arise at his customary 5:00am followed by Moms awakening at 7:00, the excitement level was teetering on 10. The brother, that Christmas interloper, the late sleeper extraordinaire would actually awaken at 8:00 and feel the need for shaving, then toast marmalade & tea must follow in perfect order...only to add the darn Queens Message at 9:00 in his painful Christmas morning repertoire! I havent watched one in 50 years and thankfully for the magic of computers and FB I finally did....on Boxing Day!
