2-day Heritage Training Workshop at Mansbal MANSBAL, NOVEMBER 27: Two day training workshop of teachers and students of district Ganderbal was inaugurated today by District Development Commissioner Ganderbal, Mr. Sarmad Hafeez in Conference Hall at Sports Centre (Wullar-Mansbal Development Authority), Manasbal. This is a first workshop of its kind with teaching community and was organized by INTACH in association with the Heritage Education and Communication Service (HECS), Heritage Wing of INTACH, which has been involved in building a network of Heritage Clubs in schools throughout the country with an aim of setting up INTACH Heritage Clubs in Schools, aimed for helping the people especially the younger generation to understand heritage that includes historical buildings, arts & crafts, living traditions, life styles, flora fauna and landscapes. District Development Commissioner Ganderbal while addressing the inaugural ceremony said that by doing this we learn to care for our past. Only by valuing our past can we appreciate the present and this respect for our cultural heritage can be taught best by teachers by forming heritage clubs such that we teach our children the value of culture and heritage. The purpose of the project is to generate awareness to sustain heritage-conscious attitudes and the willingness for action, he added. These workshops create a willingness to initiate and sustain preservation plans at the student and community level. This type of Teacher Training workshops are being organized by INTACH & HECS to make students and teachers aware of their surroundings and conscious of the importance of past. Also to groom necessary skills among students to create action plans for conservation like worksheets etc and to motivate teachers to use appropriate resource material in classroom which play an effective role in sensitizing children about heritage said Altaf Hussain, convener of INTACHs J&K chapter. It was insisted in the workshop that teachers may take the Heritage Education in mission mode to protect and preserve the heritage of the state. He distributed heritage related books published by HECS were distributed among teachers and Heritage badges among students were distributed as well.
