2 quite opposite experiences....... This weeks Restaurant Reviews!!! On Thursday me, Mrs Shades and the bin lids went to Harvester on Hagley Road, by Wolverhampton Road...... We have used this place lots of times as it is very local to where we live and to be honest I have had mixed experiences in there. Thursday we went in at just before 5pm. We left at just before 7pm. The place is an absolute joke!! We ordered 5 meals and 5 drinks. The kids had bottomless drinks and Mrs Shades and I both had bottomless coffee. The service is absolutely shite and the only reason they offer bottomless coffee is because unless you get up yourself and make your way to behind the bar you aint never getting more that one cup!! It was busy in there but the Manager is a complete and utter useless waste of space (this only applies to the one who was in there on Thursday PM) We waited almost an hour for our main course, then 30 minutes before anyone even came and asked us if we wanted a desset and then 25 minutes for the desserts to come out. The kids chose to have a Make your own Sundae that comes with sprinkles, Chocolate pieces, fudge, marshmallows and a choice of sauce It was a scoop of Ice Cream with 3 marshmallows and a squirt of strawberry sauce in a plastic pot. When it came out I said to the waitress Excuse me, where are all the other things for the kids Make your own Sundae? the reply I got back was Oh, na, we havent had all that stuff in for ages, thats all we have in! I replied Do you think you should change the menu then so people are not expecting all that stuff to make their own and actually theres not really anything to make there is there?! I was slightly pissed off when she laughed, shrugged her shoulders and walked off. After having a shite meal that took almost an hour followed by disappointed kids because of the shite desserts I decided I was not going to pay for the meal. I have never done this before. I have always paid and just never returned. The waitress brought by bill over and I said Thanks, can you get the manager please she did and he came over looking somewhat flustered and said Can I help you? Now I know he already knew I was less than satisfied because I had already told the waitress I was pissed off after she came and took the dinner plates away and I watched her go and tell him I wasnt happy and he basically looked at her and didnt even bother his arse to come over and ask what was up. I said, we have had a shite meal that took an hour to come, a shit desset that took almost another hour to come and I just wanted to let you know I wont be paying for it. Before I had a chance to go any further he said You will be paying for it! At this point I lost my head and explained to him that he is a useless cunt who ironically couldnt organise a piss up in a Brewery. He said he going to call the Police because I was refusing to pay. I showed him that I had more than enough cash on me to pay for the meal, however I was not paying for shit food and even shitter service. The ignorant twat walked off while I was talking to him and then took the hump when I followed him, took his pen out of his hand and wrote down my Name, Address and telephone number to pass onto the Police, just to prove I wasnt out for a FREE meal but I was refusing to pay for such bad food and service. I did offer to pay for my own dessert and the drinks that we had had and finally he said we didnt have to pay nothing. I would like to say that the Manager who walks funny (I dont mean that in any disrespectful way, I just dont know the fellas name) Is absolutely brilliant and when hes in there the food is spot on, the service is excellent and he makes sure everyone is working as hard as is needed to keep the customers happy. The cunt who was on on Thursday night is a complete sausage and isnt worthy of the title of Manager. On that note I will never frequent your establishment again and would rather drive the extra 10 mile to The Fort for a Harvester. In quite the opposite note, today we went to The Black Boy in Knowle. Today there was 7 of us. It was also very very busy to the point where we had to sit outside because the inside of the pub was packed. This was fine because it was a pleasant afternoon and the kids were happy playing on the slide etc We ordered our food and the board said 50 minutes wait for food. It came in 25-30 minutes and it was spot on. The Black Boy is a 35 minute car journey from our house but I would rather spend the time and the extra money to have a meal that is edible and the staff are always spot on, polite and seem like they want to be there. WELL DONE THE BLACK BOY. This is this weeks review on where you should and shouldnt go to eat!! Youre welcome.
