2 things 1) room/bed/sofa to crash on for a friend for 1 week sept. 1-7 approx. 2) same situation for me, a few nights a week when doing volunteer work in centro. also some thoughts below for how i feel. my friend will arrive monday(tomorrow) and her plans for living in medellin changed and so she wont rent a place as she could not find work here but did find in another city. so she just needs a room for a week or some days. she prefers to stay with locals and enjoy the experience more than a hostel. me - before i leave to go make money and escape a bit, i will be doing some volunteer work in centro, about 10 minutes walk east of berrio an san antonio stations. was thinking to try and find a room/sofa for the nights i will be there as some days i will be working 12 hours and its a very long commute from my place up north. only volunteer work, so i dont have the money to rent nice places like others, i spent my extra money on my first months here and my visa/cedula. (process to stay here more time legally just to volunteer $$) i like December here, and i will miss the last part of my oldest groups year, but i feel a bit tired after 8 months here and maybe i need a change of scenery and things. I would leave tomorrow maybe but i would like to spend some time with my primary school and a little with a new school. being alone in a different country, with a foreign language, unique customs and culture, etc. is fun at times, but not always easy, also i cant make decent money here. rules make it so i cant get paid to teach public education, and thats the only thing i would really want. i dont want to teach English honestly, just enjoy giving the kids a new experience since most cant travel to interact with foreigners and i feel maybe i can influence them in a good way and help them learn more for their next step in life.
