2 weeks ago an old friend of mine who left Islam years ago reached out to me and immediately started insulting Islam and Muslims. I thought to shut the phone on him because of how rude he was but then I thought to myself he cant be calling just for this. I realized he was desperate for help. When I started talking, he was shocked that I didnt yell at him or show him that I was offended. Instead we talked about the underlying issue which caused him to reject faith in the first place which was a family issue, and I didnt even bring up Islam. Al hamdulila, he just sent me an email saying hes Muslim again and prayed Jumah today for the first time in 2 years. My heart is full of joy for this brother. But the reason I post this is just as an advice to those who know people who have left Islam or are considering it: instead of rejecting them and insulting them, find out why they REALLY left the faith. It is almost never about the religion but instead about someone who claimed to be of it that hurt them. May Allah give us all guidance, clarity, and compassion. ameen
