20 days ago the Dish Network blacked out Fox News in the midst of a contract dispute. In those brief 20 days they have learned that a lot of people like their Fox News. There have already been 90,000 people cancel their subscriptions to Dish and change to a new provider. Now, iif you do the math and if those 90,000 people averaged only 50 dollars a month (I think that is probably impossible and it is more like soemthing over 100 a month)you are looking at over 50 million dollars of annual revenue lost. Ouch!!! I suspect that a more accurate number would be over 100 million in revenue. besides the 90,000 customers lost already another 300,000 have explored the option as they are determined to get Fox back. Im thinking that Dish totally underestimated the impact of ticking of those who understand that Fox really is the most (not completely) but the most fair and balanced news station. Now if this was a problem with MSNBC they probably could have absorbed the two dozen or so angry customers but it looks to me like Dish is going to need a new beginning with over 100,000 angry customers. For me, I switched from one provider to another and the fact that Fox News was no longer available played a pretty big role in looking to another provider. Yes I have a new TV, Internet and phone provider, I have Fox News and in just 742 days we will have our new beginning
