20 years ago I mainly photographed photojournalistic style wedding images. But as time went on I wanted more situations where I could control the posing and backgrounds. Yet sometimes the shots before or after my controlled pose turned out better. More natural. So prompting the subjects to a cool background or great light location and then letting the pose unfold is something I need to concentrate more on. It is lovely to let the subjects just do what they do! Also just shooting as they are moving from one location to the other. Or giving them a task like tossing a veil to get better reactions and emotions. Sure I shoot a lot of PJ at weddings. I am still getting plenty of time with the subjects at weddings to photograph the way I want. I am just going to spend more time orchestrating the general idea and letting the couple play…see what happens!
