200 families, International agencies, health experts for Benola Conference- More than two hundred families, administrative and clinical leaders from hospitals and other health care organizations in Nigeria and abroad will on Saturday, July 20, 2013 gather at Lekki Peninsula Hotel, Lagos for a one day conference on effective management of cerebral palsy. A statement issued in Lagos and made avaliable to SavidNews Nigeria by the Founder of Benola: A Cerebral Palsy Initiative, AVM Femi Gbadebo (rtd) said the one day stakeholders conference for families and those in charge of persons with cerebral palsy would lead families, health experts, governmental and non-governmental organizations on the path of early detection and and better management of persons with cerebral palsy in Nigeria. “The event, expected to have over 200 families and patients, providers, administrators, educators, researchers, advocates, funders and relevant organizations coming together for the first time, will serve as an excellent source for the needed family input for a road map towards the effective management of cerebral palsy in Nigeria”. “The event is expected to set out a patient- and family-centered framework for creating a shared vision and for engaging and supporting patients, families, health care professionals and administrative leaders in working together on the management of cerebral palsy as well as overcoming barriers “ The statement said the conference would improve awareness on cerebral palsy management in Nigeria. “The one day conference is an opportunity for families of persons with cerebral palsy to interact with experts and agencies providing care and management for persons with this unique condition” the statement said. “It is a selfless service for humanity and we are happy to be part of the event” the statement added.
