2013 Boost In Local Traffic – Top Searches Released | Posted on 05. 06. by Jason Bishop 2012 Boost In Local Traffic For Online Directories – Top Searches Released Despite the local nature of the YellowPages, they have received a massive increase in their local search traffic in 2012, garnering an impressive 350,000 rise in searches EACH DAY over the previous year’s search traffic statistics. The chart YP released follows, detailing their top ten searches and identifying which industries and sectors have experienced the most impressive growth. An additional statistic to point out is their overall 30% increase in mobile device searches, with the fastest growth being seen in iPad and Android phones. Android and iPad searches alone enjoyed an impressive 200% increase in search traffic, with each piece experiencing a 200% increase in searches. Restaurants continue to be the most popular locally searched item; 17% of all mobile searches and 10% of overall searches were for restaurants. YP also noted that other industries that are rarely associated with immediate walk-in clientele saw increases in mobile searches as well, indicating a growth trend in these areas. Because of the surge in tablet and mobile phone use for daily tasks, rather than home computers and laptops, the mobile industry’s brisk growth has resulted in a change in local search habits. As the chart below shows, rapid growth was seen in the industries of dentistry, maintenance and cleaning, and industrial manufacturing. According to the YP report, ad click rates are shown to increase when searchers are within a one to two-mile radius of the business location, indicating that business proximity is important to local searchers.
