2013 GCSE Results Against the backdrop of tougher GCSE exams leading to a drop in the proportion of top grades nationally, KES has seen an increase in the number of students achieving 5 or more A*-C grades including English and Mathematics to 51.3%, the best-ever achieved by the school. The school maintained its recent increases in the proportion of top grades, with many outstanding individual sets of results. The top performers were Abby Hare and George Watkins, who both gained 13 A*/A grades. Headteacher, Jonathan Osborn said: “The performance of this yeargroup has especially pleased us as their final results show the amount of progress they have made since joining the school with Key Stage 2 results well below the national average. Many students have achieved more than they believed possible, and have certainly achieved their ‘Personal Best’ – a challenge we give to all of our students. I am also particularly pleased that there are many boys amongst our top performers, as this is not often the case in schools generally. All of this is due to the hard work and commitment of both students and the staff who supported them throughout their time at the school. We are looking forward to welcoming many of them back to the Sixth Form here in September. Many congratulations to all our students!”
