2013 Haunted Hay Ride Skirts Swamp Oh, you should’ve seen it! Well, I didn’t exactly see it, actually, but I durn sure Heard It! The Bull Gator! Just as the Geneva State Forest Volunteer was driving me through the specially crafted route for this year’s Haunted Hay Ride, and I thought it was safe to start breathing again... There it was! Off in the darkness! Straight across Geneva State Forest Lake! I just knew he was headed right for our truck! I could almost hear the waves beat on the shore as what had to be the Bull Gator made his way in my direction! Why did I let myself get talked into going on this trip anyway? And the moon will be even darker on Opening Night... Thursday, October 10th... Probably won’t be no light at all! Pitch Black! It makes me shiver to think about it! I’m gonna bring some friends... I don’t think I can handle this much suspense all by myself!! Oh No! Now we’re coming up to the swampy part of this trail! I can almost feel the rumble of what must be hundreds of Giant Bull Frogs!! And one of my buddies is crazy enough to want to come her Both Nights! Yeah, the hay ride is gonna carry folks through her on Saturday night, October 12th, also! I’m certain one night will be all I can handle! And we haven’t even gotten into the woods yet! I don’t even want to think about what might be in there! My neighbor was on this ride last year has been too scared to give me any details! My driver just told me the hay rides will begin at 6:00 pm and will wind down around 9:00 pm. Where am I? He says Geneva State Forest... 10 miles West of Samson and 10 miles South of Kinston. A little bit Northeast of Florala. All I know is except for my driver, I haven’t seen anyone in a while... we’re out in the sticks!! They tell me it costs $10 to get on this ride. From what I’ve seen (and HEARD!) I’m tempted to pay ‘em $10 just to get out of here!... In one piece! If I don’t make it back to school tomorrow... call 334-565-9110 or email gsfvolunteers@yahoo If I’m still on dry ground maybe someone will be able to find me. Oh, my driver says use your GPS and try to find N 31.08516, W. 86.11096. ‘Hope he knows what he’s talking about, this is one scary place! I really want to come back here and look things over in the daylight. Granddaddy says this place is beautiful in the daytime – especially in the Fall. Don’t miss the Haunted Hay Ride Y’all... October 10 & 12... It’ll be a good one! Dang ol’ Gator... Ruined my whole visit. Geneva State Forest Stakeholder Volunteers, LLC
