The position is for two years, availablestarting in September 2014, and based in El Paso, Texas. Candidates should have a PhD in biology, ecology, climate science, earthsystem science, or a related field and demonstrated strength in modelingecosystem and/or biosphere-atmosphere interactions. Demonstratedexperience working with land surface models (such as CLM) to quantifyterrestrial feedbacks to the climate system is considered stronglybeneficial. The successful applicant should have experience conducting research onthe impacts of global change on ecosystem function and land surfacefluxes of trace gases (e.g., carbon dioxide, methane, and nitrousoxide), hydrological processes, or microbial biogeochemistry. Experiencein modeling soil biogeochemical processes and the programming abilitywith FORTRAN and/or C++ are desirable. The successful candidate will have opportunities to work with a group ofinterdisciplinary scientists in the University of Texas at El Paso andother institutes in U.S. and China.
