===2014-08-10 ISRAEL: Tightening the authoritarian regime - prohibiting anti-government demonstrations=== For the second time in two weeks, Israel Police prohibited lawful anti-government demosntrations. The excuse - security. However, the security recommendation refers only to gathering of more than a 1,000 people. Two weeks ago, when only a few hundreds gathered for a demonstration against the Gaza massacre, Israel Police applied violence, including violence against a photojournalist, who was documenting police violence... It should be noted that no missile ever hit Tel Aviv through the entire current cycle of violence, and the once or twice a day missile alarms are likely to be false alarms, meant to keep the public scared, or even panicked, and to justify the Gaza massacre. The Jewish Press, falsely calls last nights demonstration Illegal Leftwing Protest. Fortunately, there are other Jewish voices around the world... The current cycle of violence exposed ongoing trends in Israeli society and the Israeli regime. =The Jewish Press= Illegal Leftwing Protest in Tel Aviv, Despite Police Order By: Jewish Press News Briefs Published: August 9th, 2014 Police cancelled the permit for a left wing protest in Tel Aviv, following concern of rocket attacks from Gaza. Despite Israel Polices decision not to allow a pro-peace rally to take place in Tel Aviv on Saturday evening, some 200 people gathered in Rabin Square, calling to end the siege and the war and to put money into welfare, not war. Some carried signs that said Stop the massacre, end the siege. About 20 people gathered for a counter-protest nearby, waving the Israeli flag and singing the national anthem. Police forces kept the sides separate. Earlier on Saturday, Tel Aviv police announced it will not permit the demonstration due to the security situation, the rocket threat, and in light of the recommendations set forth by the Home Front Command.
