2014/15 International Junior Research Fellowships Durham University is delighted to announce that the fourth round of the Junior Research Fellowship Scheme has opened. These Fellowships are designed to attract the most talented researchers in Europe and beyond, and to build an international network of scholars with a common passion for today’s most important research challenges. Up to 11 Junior Research Fellowships are available commencing between 1 July 2014 and 1 October 2014. To be eligible, in line with the terms of funding set by Marie Curie, researchers must not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc) in the country of their host organisation for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to the reference date”. The closing date for applications is: 6 December 2013. As a member of the Durham academic staff will act as host and Mentor for each Fellow, before applying, applicants MUST seek the agreement of a Durham academic to act as their host. Details on the scheme and how to apply can be found at durham.ac.uk/ias/diferens/ 2014/15 Addison Wheeler Fellowship Alongside the JRF scheme upto three Addison Wheeler Fellowships are available. Addison Wheeler Fellowships are designed to provide young researchers of outstanding promise with three years to pursue original ideas, free from teaching and administrative responsibilities. The Fellowships are funded through the bequest of Addison James Wheeler to encourage efforts for increased knowledge of people and their make-up so as to enable them to make better use of their life here on Earth. Addressing this aspiration is one of the conditions of the Fellowships but it is intended to be interpreted broadly and should not be seen as restrictive. These have no residency restrictions. This scheme designed to gather together scholars, researchers, policy makers or practitioners from around the world and across the full spectrum of science, social science, arts and humanities to address themes of global significance in collaboration with Durhams Research Institutes and researchers. Up to 10 Senior Research Fellowships and 7 Policy & Enterprise Fellowships are available for periods of 6 weeks to 6 months between October 2013 and September 2014 (with a typical stay of 3 months) Applications are considered from researchers with an established or emerging international reputation for scholarship or research leadership.Before applying, applicants must seek the agreement of a Durham academic to act as their host.
