2014 In Review 2014, The Year of the Horse, rode by on the gallop; a lot happened and it seemed to go by in a blur... Colleen Raney and I started a podcast, quickly followed by a concert series (Little Sea Concerts) where we were able to welcome in some of our very favorite artists. The Murphy Beds (Eamon O’Leary and Jefferson Hamer) kicked things off followed by living legends Kevin Burke and John Carty. The Portland-to-Portland connection was further solidified with The Press Gang making their west coast debut. We finished out the series with our dear friends Bua, which left us primed to pick up where we left off next year. I also recorded and released a new and very pared down CD (under Colleen’s record label Little Sea) called Foreign Shore that got some great reviews. We toured the release in California, North Carolina, New England, and the Northwest. We got caught up with some old friends and made a few new ones. Japan Tour 2014 was particularly amazing, with our stay in Art space 寄す処, and our introduction to guitar player Genta Fukue. Great tunes. KMRIA put on what I believe was our best run of shows to date to round out the year leaving me exhausted, but totally inspired. All in all, a good year, though I’m excited for it to be over -- not because anything was lousy, but because I’m already looking forward to what’s in store! I’ll leave you with a little video with The Press Gang: it’s a version of Nic Jones’ Master Kilby that we recorded on the fly as they were loading up the Chevy Spark to head out of town. Can’t wait to play with these guys again. Thanks, everyone. Here’s to 2015…
