2014... Where do I even begin. Well, I could begin by listing events. In 2014, I went to Banff, Alberta and Calgary, Alberta. I watched, among other films, Godzilla, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, The Big Lebowski, and Bill & Teds Excellent Adventure (The Movie). I became a Disney Nerd and watched every episode of MythBusters and The Office. I performed at over a dozen events with the Jazz Choir, most of them as a solo bass. I participated in the 2014 ACDA All-State Honor Choir in Sacramento. Yet these events provide only an elementary understanding of my experiences of 2014. Inspired by recent news and the wisdom provided by a California liberal education, I challenged my old understandings of the world and adopted a new mentality of solidarity, curiosity, and the exploration of the human potential. I came under scrutiny from many, but their ad hominem attacks only succeeded in further solidifying my beliefs. Never before has a year subjected me to as much hope and hate, beauty and wonder, and wisdom and ignorance than 2014. I sometimes say that I mentally aged two years in 2013. Under that logic, in 2014 I aged three. But before we jump headfirst into the mystery and wonder of 2015, I have people to thank. I thank Andy, David, Oliver, Sahil, Aris, Benjamin, Howard, and Dylan for being awesome, cool, and skillful guys. As Abraham Lincoln would say, Party on, dudes! I thank Mrs. Crystal Isola for giving me numerous opportunities to improve my choral skill and meet people from other areas of the world. I thank Mr. Rick Hanford and Mr. Jeff Bale for inspiring me to question everything and develop my own ideals. I thank the Lynbrook High School Jazz Choir (both years) for being the most bodacious choral groups, perhaps ever. Canada was fun, caroling was epic, and you guys are incredible! I thank The 99 (Caroline) for becoming my arch-nemesis. Its on, Caroline, its on. Most of all, I thank Franklin Lee for being the most epic, awesome, and non-non-non-heinous person to have ever existed. It has been a most outstanding year. Heres to hoping for a most excellent 2015!
