2014 will be the year that it became very apparent that America has a huge problem discussing issues of racism that still exists today. The year that people turn a blind eye to police brutality and instead of calling out the bad apples prefer to just talk about personal responsibility of the victims. The year when people said of protesters, why dont these people protest the violence in their communities? as if that was the cure all for blatant disparaging proportion of murders of people of color at the hands of police officers. By saying that they negated the work and protests people in said communities do each and every day to try and combat violence in their communities. The year that if you protested against police brutality you were labeled a racist or hating the police when in fact the peoples anger is at the system. People were either too stupid, too blind, to realize the difference. Many good things happened this year too but thats for another status. This one is for you to think about your actions and how you negatively responded in the face of civil rights abuse and injustices and then tried to rationalize your behavior.
