2015: Declare for governorship, ex-Delta student leaders tell Obuh By: Tonebsky Nesta | on Monday, September 1, 2014 | 29 views Mr. Tony Obuh A coalition of past tertiary education student leaders from Delta State under the auspices of Delta Intellectual Movement, DIM have joined the call for proven technocrat, Mr. Tony Obuh to declare for Delta guber race in the 2015 polls, citing his pedigree as the major reason for their position. Arising from its monthly meeting held in Warri, Delta State, Sunday August 31, the ex-student leaders noted that despite being a non political organization since inception in 1999, they are compelled to join the call for Tony Obuh to declare for the governorship “because of his immense contribution to the well-being of Delta students since 1999 when he was Director in the Office of Secretary to Delta State Government”. The group’s statement which was signed by its Delta State Chairman, Stanley Okiemute Umukoro explained that Mr. Obuh has been a mediator between the state government and a tertiary education student leader since Delta State was created. While describing Tony Obuh as a detribalized man who all past student leaders and well meaning Deltans are indebted to, DIM posited that “Obuh’s experience in government as a seasoned administrator will greatly transform Delta State if given the mandate to govern come 2015”. DIM whose membership cuts across the 25 Local Government Areas in Delta State with over 1,000 registered members also appealed to “the Delta State Government to redouble its effort to prevent the dreaded Ebola Virus from spreading to Delta State considering the state’s closeness to Rivers State”.
