2015: GOV ALIYU TELLS AMBITIOUS AIDES TO QUIT BETWEEN NOW AND END OF APRIL... Niger State Governor Babangida Aliyu has given members of his cabinet and other principal officers in the state who have political ambition in 2015 till the end of April this year to either resign their appointments or be kicked out. This directive from the governor, it was learnt, became necessary as a result of the deep involvement of some of the principal officers in partisan politics at the detriment of their present official assignments. While the governor is said not to be opposed to political ambitions of his aides, he is said not to be comfortable with them dumping their primary assignments for politics, especially when the whistle for politicking has not even been blown. The governor was said to have given the directive to his commissioners and other principal aides during the last State Executive Council meeting held in the Government House in Minna. Our correspondent learnt on Monday that some of Aliyu’s aides, who had been working on their 2015 ambition, were said to have started preparing their handing over notes ahead of the April date deadline. Sources hinted our correspondent in Minna that those that might soon quit the Niger State cabinet include the Commissioners for Works, Alhaji Mu,azu Mohammed Bawa; the Head of Service, Alhaji Abbas Bello; and the Chief of staff, Mr. Joshua Bawa, Others are the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Idris Kpaki Saidu; and the Deputy Chief of staff, Alhaji Mohammed Saba. Bawa is eyeing the governorship slot while others are bidding the National Assembly seats from their various zones.
