2015: NANS JCC Delta State in conjunction with NUIS National Executive Endorses Ogor for re-election The National Association of Nigerian Students NANS Delta State Joint campus committee in conjunction with the National Executive of the National Union of Isoko Students (NUIS) has honored the Deputy Majority Leader of the House of Representatives and member representing Isoko Federal Constituency Rt. Hon. Leo Okuweh Ogor with a merit award for patriotism, selfless service and for his contributions to the making of good laws for the good governance of the country. In his speech, the Chairman NANS JCC Delta State, Com. Solomon Ogoron said the award was in recognition of Hon Leo Ogors outstanding and vibrant representation in the House of Representatives. He has given Deltans a voice in the House and we are always delighted to watch his contributions at plenary. He is a legislator per excellence who has provided strong and virile leadership for not just his people but for the entire South South geopolitical zone. While corroborating the speech of the NANS Chairman, the National President of the National Union of Isoko Students NUIS Com. Thomas Akpoedafe said Isoko Students are proud of Hon. Leo Ogors contribution to the development of the Isoko Nation. He pledged the support and solidarity of the entire NUIS which he represents for the reelection of Rt. Hon. Leo Ogor. In his speech, Rt Hon. Leo Ogor welcomed the students to his house and told them that he is humbled by their visit and said as Deputy Majority leader of the House of Reprsentatives, he does not represent only Isoko Federal Constituency but the entire South South and Nigeria in general. A few days ago, the Vice-President was in Delta State to commission the Utor bridge linking Delta and Edo States and cutting traveling time from the East to Abuja by over two hours. In that occasion was the Minister of works, the Governor and other representatives from the area, in that commissioning ceremony, my name was a recurring decimal during the occasion and the Minister of works was constantly saying they should thank me for funding the project to the tune of over a billion Naira, because without my funding of the project with my power of appropriation the project wouldnt have been. Why am saying this is because in anything you do, you must appreciate that you should not just look within your constituency, but be able to look at the quality of what you are doing vis a viz the benefit to the people of the geopolitical zone you represent. He said. In every community in Isoko there are federal projects, the recent one is the Enwhe bridge which has given my people serious concerns. The project is actually a pending project that is not yet approved but because of the importance of the bridge to my people I said they should go ahead to construct the bridge and I have committed over N95 million of personal funds already into the project. As a leader you must be prepared to make sacrifice that may be a disadvantage to you in the short run but will be of a great advantage in the long run. I must commend your efforts as students and I wish to see how you people will be able to emulate us to do better than we have done and I look forward to seeing the quality of representation and leadership you will provide to the Isoko people, Deltans and Nigerians in general. My doors are always opened 24 hours, you are free to come anytime to find out trending issues in respect of bills, motions and the intrigues that are there in politics. High point of the visit was the presentation of Awards to the honorable and also a certificate of endorsement to return to the house. The visit was attended by the executives of the two bodies and well as friends of the Honorable.
