2015 Polls: Mimiko tasks Corp members to shun bribery The Governor of Ondo State, Dr Olusegun Mimiko has charged members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) posted to the state to be positive and not involve in anti-electoral acts that may truncate the will of the people during their participation in the 2015 general elections and other elections. Mimiko gave the charge at the closing ceremony of the three weeks orientation camp and the terminal parade of the 2014 Batch B Corps members deployed to Ondo state, at the NYSC orientation camp in Ikare-Akoko, on Tuesday. The Governor, who was represented by his Deputy, Alhaji Alli Olanusi, tasked the Corps members to ensure that the votes of every citizen at the polling units count, urging them to shun bribery, violence, corruption, partisan politics and every other acts that contravene the electoral laws during the election exercise. He congratulated them for the successful completion of their three weeks orientation and implored them to continue with the spirit and zeal of their orientation training at their various primary places of assignment. Mimiko also told them to bear in mind the oath of allegiance they swore and to think of how they can contribute their own quota to nation building in their respective host communities and make it a better place than they met it either in the area of education, health care delivery and community development service. While assuring them of adequate welfare and security from the government, the Governor also enjoined them to be security conscious in their respective environments. Also speaking, the Ondo state Commissioner for Youth and Sports development, Bekekhimi Idhiari advised the Corp members to be good national ambassadors at their respective host communities and to give their selfless service to the nation through the communities. The NYSC State Coordinator, Isiaka Kuoye also noted that due to the quality of training given to the Corp members, a high performance is expected of them at their respective places of assignment.
