2015: Yero, PDP battle to retain Kaduna Thought is Yero appears unshakened by APC’s growing profile in the state as a formidable opposition party , Baba-Ahmed has continuously maintained APC will take over Kaduna from PDP. The former Kaduna PDP Chairman, Alhaji Yaro Makama that left the party for APC , in a Radio interview with Liberty Radio in Kaduna recently said PDP has no chances of winning Kaduna again and so, “There was no basis to remain in party that has failed to deliver dividends of democracy to the people” . Makama’s interview on Liberty Radio as influential politician did stirred tension amongst PDP members, but Yero believed despite Makama’s anti PDP stance in recent times, he and others would return to PDP soon. By John Adi/Kaduna Apparently worried by dwindling fortune of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in his domain, Governor Mukhtar Ramalan Yero of Kaduna State has come out in full force to ensure that PDP wins Kaduna come 2015. Similarly, Kaduna PDP chairman, Abubakar Gambo Haruna, has launched a grassroots mobilisation committee and a Save PDP Soul agenda to retain the party’s influence in the state. Haruna told journalists at the PDP headquarters that the party’s problem is not uncommon and that it will as usual overcome the trying period as soon as electioneering days come close. Meanwhile, Yero, who spoke with strong conviction during the recent PDP caucus meeting held at Gen. Hassan Katsina House that PDP will still win Kaduna come 2015, acknowledged that the party is faced with challenge of ensuring cohesion in Kaduna as well as the country at large . He, however, said all hands are deck to reunite with the aggrieved members that defected to All Progressives Congress (APC) before 2015 elections. Sunday Independent learnt that Yero, who has been working tirelessly to map out strategies to maintain PDP’s dominance as the ruling party in state, despite the overt threat posed by the fast growing APC, has already commenced the drive to not only return those that defected to APC, but woo members of other opposition party to PDP. His first effort was to woo 21 political parties with all their supporters in the state to join PDP. According to the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the governor, Ahmed Maiyaki, the members of 21 political parties and some aggrieved PDP members that returned to party recently is evidence that PDP is a force reckon with in the state. According to Maiyaki, Yero has vowed that PDP under him “will remain strong and steady towards claiming another resounding victory in 2015”. Sunday Independent also gathered that part of Yero’s effort to save the soul of PDP is to arrange several meetings with aggrieved members of PDP who had left the party to return before 2015 elections. But the APC interim chairman, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, told Sunday Independent said Yero can only try, but he can’t go anywhere, as the citizens have realised that PDP can’t provide them with tangible dividends of democracy after ruling for about 15 years in Kaduna. >>> Thought is Yero appears 2015: Yero, PDP battle to retain Kaduna By John Adi/Kaduna Alhaji Mukhtar Ramalan Yero Apparently worried by dwindling fortune of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in his domain, Governor Mukhtar Ramalan Yero of Kaduna State has come out in full force to ensure that PDP wins Kaduna come 2015.
