2016: ANENIH FINE-TUNES STRATEGY TO DISLODGE APC IN EDO The Edo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) under the watchful eyes of the chairman, Board of Trustees, Chief Tony Anenih has restated the party’s commitment to dislodging the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state come 2016 governorship election. The party at an enlarged meeting held weekend at the palatial mansion of Tony Anenih had in attendance the minister of works, Mike Onolemenmen, governorship hopeful, Barrister Ken Imansuagbon, Chief Gabriel Igbinedion, business mogul, Captain Hosa Okunbor and former Speaker Zakawanu Garuba. State chairman of the party, Chief Dan Orbih, who spoke on behalf of the party at the end of a closed door session with leaders and members of the party across the three senatorial districts, noted that the meeting was called to reappraise plans to reclaim the state, adding that “80 per cent of the work to win back the state has been done”. The PDP also expressed concern over what it called the growing rate of poverty in the state occasioned by the APC-led government of Comrade Adams Oshiomhole. According to Orbih, “PDP leaders in Edo State met and we have a very loud message to the people of Edo State that PDP is ready to win back the state. We discussed the need for our members to go back to their respective wards, local governments and start putting in place structures that will serve as a roadmap to Government House. The days of APC in the state are numbered. “We are prepared to give the people of Edo State an alternative to what we are experiencing today. We are conscious of the fact that workers in the state today are not happy with the government. We want to give our people the opportunity to enjoy a purposeful government”. When asked if the choice of governorship candidate was made at the closed door meeting, Orbih said, “We are not talking about where the candidate will come from. Right now, what we are discussing is the roadmap to Government House and strengthening the party. Ordinarily, I would have given you details but because of our opponents who are losing the fight; we don’t want them to know our strategy,” he added. Source: Leadership
