London: Longman, Brown, Green, & Longmans. 157pp., half-title, 9 hand-colored engraved plates of bait and tackle containing 32 TROUT FLIES AND 8 SALMON FLIES EXQUISITELY HAND COLORED . The flies were hand colored by the same H. Alard who colored and engraved the flies in Fredrick Tolfrey’s ‘Jone’s Guide to Norway’. Bound by Zaehnsdorf in full green polished calf, guilt ruled cover, with spine densely gilt in compartments featuring elaborate fly and creel device within raised bands with 3 red morocco labels. Cover slightly scuffed, a fine copy, crisp, fresh and bright. ENCLOSED ARE 50 ACTUAL TROUT FLIES AND ONE SALMON FLY TIED AND SIGNED BY MRS. A. LEWIS, FLY MAKER FOR THE BOOK, FROM HEREFORD ENGLAND, THAT ARE MOUNTED WITH MARBLED PAPER SEALS. Fabulous copy.
