$209,825,000 USA aid to Somalia..........this is where the money comes from, filtered through the warlords through Muslim banks Where are they getting the money? Cash goes in and out of banks, then it’s moved through “Hawala” – unlicensed foreign money transfer services that operate in Muslim countries. Hawala have been sending money to Al-Shabab, the Somali terrorist group. Recently, U.S. and British banks started cutting their ties with these Somali Hawala and will no longer work with them. As a result, the news has been filled with stories where Somalis and the NGO Oxfam complain that poor families in Somalia will suffer if they can no longer receive money from the West through Hawala. If these Somalis can’t get money through Hawala, how will they manage to increase their population and finance those 3,000 Euro per person trip tickets? I’ve often wondered if the Somali shops springing up in American towns are involved in back room money transfer operations. In this economy there is no way some little Somali store selling trinkets and such can survive without something else going on. But, also they are being initially set up with micro-loans from the US taxpayer which helps.
