21 October 2014 - Free Treatment Day 25 x Equines and 2 x Dogs seen to today... It was lovely to see One-Eye Ben again today... He came around to the front of the house, looking for me early morning, and of course his bowl of food, which is routine on each visit, since his stay with us. Lots of hugs and kisses, and Ben enjoyed giving me a few rubs too, pushing and rubbing his face against my stomach... Love this boy to bits. So much improvement can be seen in so many of the horses... Their skin is glowing, putting on some weight, manes are growing beautifully, and ticks are under control. It clearly shows what the regular visits to the clinic does, and the owners notices the difference, and therefor coming for basic treatment more often... that includes tick control, treatment for skin conditions, keeping a worming schedule, and seeing to all the wounds, controlling the saddle sores by supplying more numnahs, and finding a solution with replacing old broken saddles with better ones... Even the new patients that was in extremely neglected condition a couple of weeks ago, are looking so much better already... A mule, first time visitor, has a mysterious lump on his chest, said to be like that for a couple of weeks already. We are not sure what caused it, but definitely can notice the swelling going down to the lower point between his front legs. It is hard, no wounds and no draining hole. The owner will come on a regular basis, so we can see what changes there is... It does not seem painful at all, and is not restricting his movement in any way... The poor soul also received a new bridle, as his was just in terrible condition, with a home made, rusted bit. Some visitors came by during the day to show their support, hearing about the project, and wanting to learn more. Helen, from Cape Town, a horse owner, as well as her daughter, offered to make a cash donation, as well as gather some tack where she stables... So nice to meet the supporters, and the kind and encouraging words is just so much appreciated and uplifting... Overall, a great day...
