21 YEARS AGO TODAY: WCW @ Orlando, FL - Disney / MGM Studios - July 9, 1993 (all freebies) Worldwide taping: WCW Saturday Night - 8/7/93 - included footage of Rick Rude & the Equalizer speaking backstage about Dustin Rhodes surprise tag team partner for the Clash of the Champions; featured Tony Schiavone & Jesse Ventura conducting an interview with Rhodes regarding the mystery partner, during which Rude & Equalizer appeared on the big screen; Rhodes then said they would have to wait to find out who his partner is but he would give him two clues - the two men were six man tag team champions with Dusty Rhodes; Ventura and the others then said it was Blackjack Mulligan and Dick Murdoch, with Rhodes saying no; Rhodes then said it would be Rude & Equalizers doom at the Clash, with Rhodes then walking off; included Schiavone conducting a closing interview with NWA World Champion Ric Flair, Arn Anderson & Paul Roma regarding Flairs special guest for Flair for the Gold at the Clash and Anderson & Romas rematch against WCW/NWA Tag Team Champions Steve Austin & Brian Pillman: Sting defeated Bill Payne at 1:26 via submission with the Scorpion Deathlock; during the bout, Harley Race & the Colossol Kongs appeared ringside Bobby Eaton & Chris Benoit defeated Tex Slazenger & Shanghai Pierce at 6:40 when Eaton pinned Pierce following a neckbreaker; early in the bout, footage was shown from the previous week of the two teams fighting at ringside after Slazenger & Peirce defeated Kent & Keith Cole; Eaton & Benoit were booed in the match and Slazenter & Pierce were cheered Yoshi Kwan (w/ Harley Race) defeated Marcus Alexander Bagwell via submission with a nerve hold at 4:18; Kwan wore Cactus Jacks bag around his neck until taking it off before the match; after the contest, Tony Schiavone conducted a ringside interview with Race, alongside Kwan, in which Race spoke to Cactus and said if he wanted his bag back, he had to go through Kwan to get it (Kwans debut) Rick Rude & the Equalizer defeated Warren Quinn & Leroy Howard at 1:21 when Rude pinned Howard with the Rude Awakening 2 Cold Scorpio pinned Mercenary #2 with the 450 splash at 2:30; prior to the bout, Scorpio got ring announcer Gary Michael Cappetta to dance with him in the ring WCW TV Champion Paul Orndorff & Maxx Payne defeated Ricky Steamboat & Johnny B. Badd via disqualification at around the 7:20 mark after Badd stole away Orndorffs foreign object and hit Payne with it; prior to the bout, footage was shown from the previous week of Orndorff & Payne double teaming Badd until Steamboat made the save 10/16/93: Charlie Norris vs. the Mask Sting vs. Mercenary #1 WCW TV Champion Lord Steven Regal defeated Mark Starr Rick Rude vs. Frankie Lancaster Ron Simmons & Ice Train defeated Steve Austin & Brian Pillman 10/23/93: WCW Tag Team Chapions the Nasty Boys (w/ Missy Hyatt) defeated Rico Federico & Davey Rich at 2:53 when Jerry Saggs pinned Rich following the running powerslam / flying elbowsmash double team Sid Vicious (w/ Col. Rob Parker) pinned Denny Brown with the powerbomb at 1:41 Ric Flair & Paul Roma defeated the Wrecking Crew at 3:33 when Roma scored the pin with a splash off the top Charlie Norris vs. Top Gun Ricky Steamboat defeated Paul Orndorff via disqualification at 11:09 when the Equalizer ran out and attacked Steamboat as Steamboat had Orndorff covered with the crossbody off the top; Orndorff was WCW TV Champion when the match was taped but he did not come out with the belt nor was he announced as champion 10/30/93: Johnny B. Badd defeated Wrecking Crew Fury Steve Austin & Brian Pillman vs. Kenny Kendall & Mark Starr WCW International World Champion Rick Rude defeated Brady Boone Ice Train vs. Tony Vincent Harlem Heat vs. Scott Allen & Alex Gibson Sting & Ricky Steamboat defeated the Equalizer & Paul Orndorff 11/6/93: WCW TV Champion Lord Steven Regal pinned Johnny B. Badd at 7:28 after rolling through Badds crossbody and pulling the tights for leverage; Regal defended the title despite not having won it at the time of the taping
