21st August - Liturgical Feastday of POPE SAINT PIUS X - TopicsExpress

21st August - Liturgical Feastday of POPE SAINT PIUS X (1835-1914), who as a boy used to walk many miles from home to school and then back home from school barefooted (even on cold wet days) in order to take care of the only pair of shoes he had! The 21st August of this year is also the century of the anniversary of his death, heartbroken by the outburst of World War I, which brought to an end 11 years of his pontificate (1903-1914) His motto, as both bishop and Pope, was a very beautiful one with a very strong message: INSTAURARE OMNIA IN CHRISTO, meaning To restitute everything to Christ, for as the saintly pope taught: WE CHAMPION, BY PROMOTING AND DEFENDING UNCONDITIONALLY AND WITHOUT COMPROMISE, THE TOTAL AUTHORITY THAT BELONGS TO GOD BY RIGHT, FOR HIS COMMANDMENTS, ALL OF THEM WITHOUT EXCEPTION, SHOULD BE RECOGNIZED, RESPECTED AND FOLLOWED BY ALL MANKIND. Strong words, which are very valid today (especially for those Catholics involved in politics) but if only we Catholics took heed to such words of such a great, humble and saintly man, and put them into practice unconditionally and without compromise!
