225th BSB Soldiers, If you are an active duty Soldier with Post 9/11 GI Bill benefits and plan to transfer those education benefits to a family member, you will now incur an additional 4 year service obligation if the transfer is approve AFTER 1-AUG-13. For more information reference the link below and a brief summary of the Military Personnel Message (MILPER) 13-102. -------------------- MILPER Message 13-102, Post 9/11 GI Bill Transfer of Education Benefits (TEB) Four-Year Service Obligation for Approved TEB Requests Submitted On/After 1 August 2013 This message emphasizes that all post 9/11 GI Bill Transfer of Education Benefits (TEB) requests submitted and approved on/after 1 August 2013 will incur a four-year service obligation from the TEB request date, regardless of years in service (except when precluded by either policy or statute from committing an additional four years, e.g. temporary early retirement authority). The 4-year service obligation incurred by TEB requests approved on/after 1 August 2013 begins on the TEB request date and must be served in the same Army component. gibill.va.gov
